iPhone battery giving you hard time?

The iPhone's battery has always been a concern for users. 2015 was the year when Apple formally accepted the iPhone's battery woes even as it launched a smart battery case for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Now, it has come to light that Facebook's app for iOS maybe one of the probable reasons why the iPhone has such a shoddy battery life. The Guardian's Samuel Gibbs decided to investigate and found that uninstalling the Facebook app can increase battery life of an iPhone by up to 15 percent, which pretty is substantial. At the same time, removing the app clears as much as 500 MB of data (app + cached) from an iPhone. Clearly, Facebook's app for iOS appears to be a major resource hog for the iPhone, according to the report.
Gibbs uninstalled the Facebook app from his iPhone 6S Plus and took to the Safari web browser to access his social media account for a week. At the end of each day of the test period, he found that his iPhone had 15 percent more battery left than before. Moreover, uninstalling the app freed up to 500 MB of data, which is significant for someone who owns a base variant of the iPhone totting 8GB/16GB of internal memory and no microSD card slot.

Barring a few restrictions like lack of share-to function and Instant Articles, "using Facebook in Safari was almost as good as the app," Gibbs mentions. And, it doesn't hit battery life as much, so that's that.
Instances of the Facebook app causing a significant battery drain on iPhone aren't new. Only last year, a big was reported in the Facebook's iOS app that was doing the same, going on to squeeze out battery juice even when the app wasn't in use. Facebook had admitted and even claimed to have fixed the bug. But, apparently issues remain.
All isn't hunky dory for Android users as well. According to Samuel Gibbs , uninstalling the Facebook app saves up to 20 percent of battery on a phone running Google's Android OS.
