Japanese company Sony has announced the successor to the RX10 II flagship superzoom camera, aka the RX10 III at a price of $1,500 (roughly Rs.99,457.50). The main highlight of the RX10 III is its brand new super-telephoto lens that boasts of 25x optical zoom (24-600mm) which is three times more than the 24-200mm lens on the outgoing RX10 II.
The RX10 III boasts of a 20.1-megapixel, 1-inch type stacked sensor with a variable f2.4-4 aperture aided by optical image stabilisation that is capable of compensating for 4.5 stops of exposure, according to Sony. You also get Sony's proprietary SteadyShot electronic image stabilisation. Powered by a Bionz X processor, the RX10 III has an ISO range of 64-12,800 and can do 4K videos at 30 or 24 frames per second. It can also shoot 1080p slow motion video at 960 frames per second as well as slow-motion videos at 240, 480 and 960fps.A 14-fps burst mode is also present.
"The Sony RX10 III works well for wide-angle landscapes, close-up sports shots, and any situation that calls for a high-performing camera with an advanced zoom," according to the company.
The RX10 III includes a 2.35-million-dot resolution OLED viewfinder and a 3-inch LCD screen on the rear. Connectivity options include: NFC and Wi-Fi. The Sony RX10 III will be available for buy starting from May in the US and Canada.
