Is Apple 5C a flop...?

Even though Apple's iPhone 5c - intended for emerging markets and first-time iPhone users has sold over 24 million units to date (via Forbes), it figures in the list of 'disappointments' in the company's otherwise scintillating track record.
The iPhone 5c has been 'branded' a failure by media and critics alike and CEO Tim Cook is to be given part of blame for this.
During Apple's Q1 2014 earnings call, CEO Cook revealed that the iPhone 5c did not meet the company's sales expectations. What he failed to highlight though was that the iPhone 5c did not meet the company's sales expectations when compared to its own 'flagship' sibling, the iPhone 5s.
The iPhone 5c - although not as successful as the iPhone 5s - was still doing just fine (in comparison to Androids, Windows and BlackBerrys), and was nowhere close to being the 'failed' experiment that it was labelled to be.
