Zuckerberg to take two months break from Facebook when his new baby arrives

Mark Zuckerberg has decided to take a two months break from Facebook when his new baby arrives even as parental leave becomes an important topic in Silicon Valley. Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are to have their first child - a baby girl - and the Facebook CEO will be stepping away from the office for two consecutive months, once Priscilla gives birth.
"Priscilla and I are starting to get ready for our daughter's arrival. We've been picking out our favorite childhood books and toys. We've also been thinking about how we're going to take time off during the first months of her life. This is a very personal decision, and I've decided to take 2 months of paternity leave when our daughter arrives," Mark wrote on Facebook .
Facebook allows its employees in the US to take up to four months of parental leave, which can be taken anytime up to a period of year after their baby is born. "Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families. At Facebook we offer our US employees up to 4 months of paid maternity or paternity leave which they can take throughout the year. Every day things are getting a little more real for us, and we're excited to start this next stage in our lives," Mark added .
Two months is still a long time for a CEO to be away from his company especially when he controls over half of the company's voting power. It's exactly not clear who is to take the company reins when Mark is off duty. It's likely that Facebook's chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg would take over the interim responsibility. "Enjoy the precious early months with your daughter -- I can't wait to meet her," is what she posted in response to Mark's paternity leave announcement.
